Let’s look at this story: a driver who has had a drink, but not legally drunk, overshoots a highway exit and turns too fast for his SUV to handle, the car skids (as it should) but unfortunately ends up on gravel which causes it to roll over. This ejects the two people in the SUV who were not wearing seat belts and they die. And now the carmaker has to pay $31 million dollars? The jury’s reasoning? Although the glass met federal standards, they were not strong enough. This is crazy! You had alcohol in your blood! You bought an SUV! You missed the exit! And instead of getting off at the next one, you spun it out of control! You weren’t wearing seat belts! How is the carmaker 90% liable? Wow, once again sad ending to an even sadder story in Texas.
