One Frozen Moment

There I was this morning at State and Lake, high atop the el platform in the blistering cold of Chicago winter at 5:30am. It was 12 degrees, but it felt like the North Pole. The air was so dense, I could barely understand the rhythmic call of the Sun-Times sales guy 20 feet below shouting “suhdimez”. I never thought the sight of the Orange Line would look so inviting.
